This looks very much like a Thonet bistro chair. Imagine Paris in the belle epoque. Gauguin or Degas could have been sitting on a chair like this. Although the chair would probably have been in a different colour.

These chairs bear a slight resemblance to a classic Bauhaus design by Mart Stam or Marcel Breuer. But they’ve seen their better days. Don’t use your design chair as a stepladder. They were obviously cheap remakes. Or should the conservators of the Hague’s Gemeentemuseum have been notified?
